The Organizer (Corporate Secretary)
As a new board member, I am honored to join in the vital mission of Global Youth Vision of Hope - a cause I look forward to helping in creating a safe and loving home for children. I’d like to share a little about myself.
I am the seventh born in a family of ten children (nine girls and one boy.) Our home was always filled with love and laughter. I believe every child should have the opportunity to be nurtured in a home where they are surrounded by love and laughter as much as I did.
Education was a priority and we were encouraged to do our best and find a career that we would love. Mine was teaching. After graduating from California State University in Hayward, California with a degree in Criminal Justice, I knew that I wanted to continue my education to become a teacher.
I received Multiple Subject teaching credential in 1990 and worked for 28 years at the elementary level; 24 of those years teaching first grade. Among the many roles I was assigned included being a member on the Leadership team as well as assigned Principal Designee whenever the school principal needed to be off campus.
One of my passions was being the chair person for the English Language Development Committee. I enjoyed working with the families of those students in which English was a second language. I instilled this passion to one of my daughters who teaches English Language Development classes at a middle school.
Outside of my work life, I enjoy spending time with family. I’m blessed to be able to spend time with my mother who will be 101 years old next month. I have two sons, two daughters, eight grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Watching the grandchildren participate in sports and school activities brings me much joy. I enjoy reading mystery novels, and volunteering in the kitchen at the local Elks Club. I am excited to bring my life experiences to Global Youth Vision of Hope so that children can create their own happy life experiences.
