Global Youth Vision of Hope Learning Farm hero image

Building a working organic and ecological farm designed to nourish children, build practical skills, create opportunity, and strengthen the long-term sustainability of GYVOH.

ONE FARM. FIVE PURPOSES.

The Learning Farm is being designed to do more than produce food. Each part of the farm supports a larger purpose—strengthening the children's home while creating knowledge and opportunity that can reach beyond it.

NOURISH: Feed the children

The first responsibility of the farm is close to home: grow nutritious vegetables, fruits, herbs and other locally appropriate foods that can help nourish the children in our care.

Healthy food. Brighter futures.

SUSTAIN: Build greater stability

After the home's needs are met, surplus crops and future farm products may create responsible sources of earned income that can be reinvested into GYVOH's mission.

Grow enterprise. Greater stability.

TEACH: Build skills

Provide hands-on learning in organic farming, food production, environmental stewardship and practical life skills for children and staff.

Real skills. Real confidence.

SHARE: Serve the community

Partner with DSWD, neighboring children's homes, schools and local organizations to offer training and learning opportunities for young people throughout Sorsogon.

Stronger community. Wider impact.

MULTIPLY: Learn. Teach. Pass it on.

Send selected staff for hands-on internships. They return to the Learning Farm to apply what they've learned and teach others.

Knowledge that keeps growing.

A CYCLE OF IMPACT

What grows on the farm can help nourish the home. What is learned on the farm can build practical skills. And what is learned at GYVOH can eventually be shared beyond it.

The goal is a reinforcing cycle: the farm strengthens the home, the home creates stability for children, and the knowledge developed there creates opportunities to reach others.

SURPLUS → PRODUCTS → INCOME → REINVESTED IN THE MISSION

LEARNING BEFORE TEACHING

We don't expect to figure this out alone.

As the Learning Farm develops, GYVOH intends to learn from organizations with practical experience in organic farming, food production and farm-based education.

Our goal is to send selected GYVOH staff for hands-on learning and bring that knowledge back to Bicol—creating a train-the-trainer model in which experience gained by a few can eventually be shared with many.

LEARN → PRACTICE → TEACH → MULTIPLY

THE IMPACT DOESN'T HAVE TO STOP AT OUR GATES.

GYVOH's children's home is intentionally envisioned as a small, family-style environment. We believe care should remain personal, consistent and rooted in relationships. But the number of young people who benefit from what is built here does not have to be small.

As the Learning Farm grows, we hope to work with local organizations, schools, government agencies and neighboring children's homes to create opportunities for young people to learn practical agricultural, environmental and livelihood skills.

WHERE WE ARE TODAY

The Learning Farm is a long-term vision and the work begins with the land.

Today, GYVOH is focused on understanding and preparing the property responsibly—its soil, water, access, crops, infrastructure and agricultural potential, while continuing the work required before construction of the children's home can resume.
